Effect of Ion-Exchange Sequences on Catalytic Performance of Cerium-Modified Cu-SSZ-13 Catalysts for NH3-SCR

Cerium-modified Cu-SSZ-13 catalysts were prepared by an aqueous ion-exchange method, and Ce Cu incorporated through different sequences. The results of NH3-SCR activity evaluations displayed that Cu1(CeCu)2 catalyst presented excellent catalytic activity, over 90% NOx conversion was obtained across the temperature range 200–500 °C. characterization showed sequence species influenced crystallinity zeolites coordination Al. A small amount could participate in reduction process change location environment copper ions. Furthermore, Ce-modified possessed more acidic sites due to their containing replacement movement preparation process. cooperation strong redox abilities NH3 storage capacity led increase active adsorbed adsorption resulted better Cu1(CeCu)2.

Structural snapshots of the SCR reaction mechanism on Cu-SSZ-13.

The structure of copper sites in Cu-SSZ-13 during NH3-SCR was unravelled by a combination of novel operando X-ray spectroscopic techniques. Strong adsorption of NH3 on Cu, its reaction with weakly adsorbed NO from the gas phase, and slow re-oxidation of Cu(I) were proven. Thereby the SCR reaction mechanism is significantly different to that observed for Fe-ZSM-5.
